Main Street USA, Magic Kingdom - parte 1

Hihihi

Ok, starting with Magic Kingdom is a little obvious, but I'll try not to be too obvious. So this post will be limited to the Main Street, which is the first view we have of the most famous theme park.

Many adults traveling without children choose not to go to Magic Kingdom because "it's for kids". My heart hurts. With sadness that the park is being labelled like this and with pity for those people who can't open their hearts and eyes to see beyond the children's attractions.

The Main Street "attractions" are great examples of interesting, unexpected and "un-childish" things to enjoy at Magic Kingdom. This part of the park very often goes unnoticed when guests rush through it to see the castle and get to the "real" attractions.

I understand the hurry, the lack of time and the need to select what to see in a trip to Walt Disney World. We usually have little time. But like I said on the previous post, I am not in a hurry... And this is a virtual trip, so let's take our time.

As soon as you go past the turnstiles, there's a train station that really works and takes the guests or a 20 minute ride around the park with a stop in Frontierland (near Splach Mountain). And I have just decided that on my next trip I'm going on this ride, 'cause I've never done that!

Disney has things like that, classic and so Walt. He was a train aficionado and when he developed the idea for the parks, he made sure to include one. The trains are kept to this day in their original old-fashioned aspect. Steam engine, driver, fireman and all. (Creating a clear contrast with the Monorail you might have rode to get to the park)

The bulletin plays with the names of films, characters and people involved in the production of the films.

But that's what the entrance to Magic Kingdom is like. Tradicional e recriating an american small town from the turn of the century. So you have, for example, your City Hall, where Guest Relations is at (to solve all sorts of problems and provide special occasions buttons!) and your Barber Shop, which is a real working one and offers haircut appointments.

On the other side of the square, Tony's is a replica of the italian restaurant in "Lady and the Tramp", in which back alley the cute couple share a spaghetti and end up kissing, in the classic scene. (Their top seller dish is obviously the meatloaf spaghetti.)

Awnnn...

I have to say that I was a bit disappointed by the atmosphere there. The restaurante is beautiful, but too big and more imposing then I expected. Maybe it's only because I was seated in an area with a view of the street, a high glass ceiling and walls with huge windows. This part doesn't feel like a romantic italian restaurant and lacks the chaming, cozy dimmed lit ambiance that I was prepared for.

But there's a main dining area, which felt to me more like the atmosphere of the movie. Except that I held the memory of the table I sat on.

Not exactly what you expect of an italian restaurant...

Well, I guess that concludes the first part!

And now I realize we didn't even get to the Main Street per se! Hihihi
