Esconde esconde - Hidden Mickeys

Quando trabalhei na Disney aprendi várias coisas interessantes e conheci muito sobre o resort.

Mas uma das coisas mais divertidas que descobri foram os "hidden Mickeys" ou Mickeys escondidos.

Pelo que percebi, não são muitas pessoas que sabem sobre eles e parece que você precisa ser um fã dos mais dedicados para descobrir que eles existem.

Não, você não vai deixar de curtir suas visitas aos parques se não souber disso, mas eu acho que eles acresentam um pouquinho mais de mágica e diversão.

O que são?

"Hidden mickeys" são imagens do Mickey colocadas proposital e estrategicamente em qualquer lugar do resort. Parece que a ideia começou como uma brincadeira entre os "imagineers", responsáveis pela criação e desenvolvimento das atrações. Mas hoje já virou uma tradição.

Em geral, as imagens escondidas são silhuetas do Mickey, "clássicas" ou perfil:

Mas podem ser também a silhueta de corpo inteiro e até de outros personagens. Eles podem estar no chão, num cantinho de uma cena de uma atração, numa combinação de círculos, nos hotéis, na estampa de alguma coisa... As possibilidades são incontáveis.

Eu gosto de procurar as mais tradicionais mesmo...

A Disney reconhece que os hidden Mickeys existem, mas não tem uma listagem oficial de quais são eles. Acredito que deve ter se tornado impossível contabiliza-los, principalmente porque o resort está sempre sendo alterado, renovado e tendo atrações substituídas.

Mas não se desespere!

Um sujeito chamado Steven M. Barrett se empolgou tanto com essa história de hidden Mickeys, que escreveu um livro que dá dicas de onde encontrá-los, promovendo uma verdadeira caça aos Mickeys!

O livro já teve algumas edições e está sempre sendo atualizado para acompanhar as mudanças nos parques e acrescentar as imagens novas que Steven encontra. (Ele está sempre procurando)

Hide and seek - Hidden Mickeys


When I worked at Disney I learned a lot of interesting things about the resort.

Among those things, one of the most fun are the "hidden Mickeys".

From what I can tell, not many people know about them and apparently you have to be a very dedicaded fan to to find out about their existence.

No, you won't enjoy your park visits any less if you don't know about that, but I feel like they add  a little magic and fun.

What are they?

"Hidden mickeys" are intentional and strategically placed images of Mickey that can be found anywhere in the resort. The idea apparently started as a joke among the "imagineers", responsible for creating and developing the attractions. But now it's become a tradition.

The most part of the images are Mickey silhouettes, either "classic" or on profile:

But they can also be a full body silhoutte and even other characters. They can be on the floor, on a corner of some attraction scene, a combination of circles, in the hotels, mixed on the pattern of something... The possibilities are endless. 

I like to look for the most traditional ones...

Disney recognises that the hidden Mickeys exist, but they don't have an official listing of how many are there or where they are. I assume it's become impossible to account for all of them, especially because the resort is always being refurbished and having their attractions replaced.

But don't worry!

A guy named Steven M. Barrett got so carried away about the hidden Mickeys, that he wrote a book that gives you clues and tips as to where to find them, and makes it a real scavenger hunt!

The book has had a few editions and it keeps being updated to keep up with the parks changes and add the new hidden mickeys that Steven finds. (He's always searching)

What's really interesting is that Steven is a doctor that hadn't been to Disney until he was already an adult. He was so fascinated that he ended up finding a way to move to Orlando!
