"Yo ho, yo ho"...

..."a pirate's life for me!"

Sempre gostei dessa perna suja e cabeluda balançando! Tão real.

Agora, quanto ao Jack Sparrow... *suspiro*

Festinha a fantasia, talvez?

"Yo ho, yo ho"...

I have a litlle OCD, so I'm organizing the Magic Kingdom "land" posts clockwise! Hehehe

I'd like to make it clear that this is not necessarily how I like to plan a day's visit to the park. Planning a visit is a much more complicated science, that must take into account show times, fastpasses, etc. (Yes, I am obsessed)

But for the blog, we're starting with Adventureland! (and that makes me wanna punch the air and explore something)

So the first thing I'd like to be able to say is that "Pirates of the Caribbean" is the diva of Adventureland, but I worry I might offend Jack Sparrow... If I say it's the "star", does it sound less gay?

I'm just trying to explain the title of this post. Although it's about Adventureland, it's focused a lot on "Pirates", for good reasons.

..."a pirate's life for me!"

"Pirates" is undeniably the most popular attraction of this area of Magic Kingdom, especially after the movies have been released...

In case you don't already know, the movies were based on the classic attraction and not the other way around.

I've selected two traditional scenes from the attraction, that I really like:

Prisoners try to lure the dog that holds the keys - classic scene replayed in the movie!
Since I was young I was fascinated by this pirate's leg. When the boat goes under his bridge, I'm always looking up, analising the hairs and muddy foot!

I've always enjoyed this hairy dirty leg! So realistic!

Now, about Jack Sparrow... *sigh*

The character was created for the film and, later, added to the attraction. I was absolutely overwhelmed by how realistic Jack Sparrow animatronic is the first time I saw it interacting with the other pirates.

It IS Johnny Depp!

Animatronic. Can you believe it?

No, that's not Johnny.
The attraction underwent many alterations to host the most important characters after the movie release and became even more popular. To me, it's always been a must-see classic, but now i'ts even more interesting!

Pay close attention to the lines - that have gotten pretty long - and make sure to get a fastpass!

The shop they make you go through after the ride is also worth the time. The merchandise is original and different from what you normally find on the parks and you can buy a replica of Captain Sparrow's hat. Costume party, anyone?

Besides the attraction, right in front of it, you may be lucky enough to catch Jack Sparrow's performance! (Or get organized to watch it on purpose). On "Pirate Tutorial", he shows up drunk from rum, argues with another pirate and interacts with the children. A real must see!!

I once watched one that was IDENTICAL to the original. I swear I questioned myself if I wasn't watching Johnny Depp himself! Promise. I couldn't decide whether to get an autograph from Jack Sparrow or faint for Johnny (Yes, I'd probably faint once facing him)

I couldn't find the video I shot of that performance, but it'll be my mission to find it this week and as soon as I do, I'll be back here to edit this post! (I'm sorry to inform that I've searched each and every possible computer for that video and coudn't find it. I am now accepting donnations for a trip to Disney in order to shoot ir again. Thank you.)

The actors that play Jack Sparrow on Magic Kingdom are usually VERY GOOD. I've heard of a specific one that would stay in character even backstage. (Right, Monica?)

But it's not only pirates that adventures are made of...

The other attraction I like over there is Jungle Cruise. So, go ahead, judge me. But to me, it's another classic.

I love the boat ride, watching the fake animals and getting lucky enough to get a fun skipper to guide us through the jungle.

Tell me you don't want to get in that boat for a ride in the forest?

As for characters, Adventureland is great for finding some specific ones, like Peter Pan, Wendy, Aladdin, Jasmine...

On a more general note, this area has the stores with the most unusual merchandise and the most varied decor. If you take your time, there are a lot of beautiful things to see.
